First Light, Kota Belud

First light from Kota Belud, left the house around 5am, reached KB around 6am ‘ish’ found the spot that I wanted, and fired away.

But that’s not what I want to write today.I have not been talking about my self lately, about life and such. Therefore while I’m at it let’s be philosophical once in a while shall we.

So my methodological course was fun ie. zzzzzzzz, and lately my mind got distracted with something else, I’m currently focusing on finishing up my phd proposal and setting up my company , like really offering professional service for my photography & video service  , so that once I start my study leave, business will proceed as planned. I love business very much and I love what I am currently doing which is the digital content , visual and motion, or photography and video/film. The thing that got me distracted is the environment, people around me, close families and friends with the business that they are doing. Sure its mainstream, you know the usual, bumiputra contracting jobs, supplying materials to government offices, sundry shops & such erghhh, don’t get me wrong , If you’re doing those things that I’ve mentioned, and making money out of it,and you love it, then good, please continue doing it. But not me , I’ve tried it before, years back, it’s just not me, I don’t like it, I kinda hate it and I hate it more when people started to persuade me in pursuing that area arghhhhhh! People please!!!

Which brings me to the second part of this article, on whether I have problems or not. I was browsing through this blog by Adam Khoo the 26-year-old self-made millionaire , I was seeking for an answer or rather some readings, article or what not to calm my ambitious self, when I stumbled on that article. And the answer is no. Then I asked myself then why the hell should I be ambitious for, why the struggle to pursue wealth & richness, not that it’s not a good thing to be wealthy but for what and why?

I read through the article by Khoo and its quiet true when he said “we’ve been brainwashed to think and to pursue material related wealth, and by achieving that, we may find ourselves to be happy…”  (well I paraphrase according to my understanding), but the sadden part is that our society especially Malaysian, confirms this. We think by being rich & wealthy , we could by big cars, big houses, 1000k t-shirt could make us happy. I think that is just sad, material happiness makes a quick fix but it will quickly go away and you’re back to square one seeking for richness and pursuing that happiness again!

But it made me stop and think for a while. So as for myself, I think I’m doing ok so far, no monthly installment for the car, because I paid that up last year, no mortgage, because I havent took any, but I could anytime soon, I’ve got a steady income, so far who knows, so that leaves me with what I want to pursue, which is taking beautiful pictures and shooting video or shorts and making money on the side. I think I’m ok, If I could turn this into a million dollar industry then that’s a bonus:).

With that, have a great Thursday night ya’ll .

p/s owning electronics and computer related gadget doesn’t count in this definition of material wealth ok, it just meant that geeks are being geeks that’s all:D
